A New Beginning… Meet Ross

Hi everyone, I’m Ross Anderson owner of Frothy Bike Co. First and foremost I’m a rider, when I’m not working in the shop I am out on any one of my bikes. Be it cycling across the country on road trips or doing laps of some of the best trails you’ll find me between two wheels.  It’s been fantastic to be in a world that is surrounded by so much amazing coffee, bikes, great friends and good times!

I’m Dumfries born and raised (and grateful for it!), I grew up surrounded by great countryside to explore both on and off-road cycling. From building my own jumps in the local woods to exploring the wider trails of the 7Stanes and later bike packing through the Hebrides, I am self-taught in everything bikes.

As a kid I was always repairing bikes out of my parent’s shed, I worked my way up to owning my own bike shop for 7 years. Then with itchy feet, I sold up to work as a team mechanic – working with some of the best elite mountain biking teams and mechanics around.

Just when you think it can’t get much better than that for a bike mechanic, I then landed a job in the mecca of downhill biking – Morzine, in the heart of the French Alps (if you’ve never been just go you’ll love it out there!). It was three Summer seasons later in 2018, when I had ridden every trail in the Portes Du Soleil and was managing a fleet of 500 bikes and 12 mechanics, that I felt inspired to bring all of my knowledge and energy back to where it all started.

Now, after my journey of the past decade which has allowed me to ride in all parts of the world, I want to bring everything I have learned back home into one kick-ass bike shop.

And let’s not forget about the café side of Frothy. I feel it is essential after having French coffee every day for so long, cycling isn’t the same without it. Which is why we have our great café serving up delicious mugs of coffee all day long.

Why Dumfries? – I couldn’t think of a better place to start another shop, the cycle community is strong and the outdoor scene is even stronger. I know my place here and I know the people I want to cater for.

Now you have heard my story, pop in, get a coffee and tell me yours.
